Mother, 2018

California forests have always been a major part of my life. Throughout my childhood my mother took us camping on every vacation we had. As a kid I remember wishing we could go somewhere else, but now I am so grateful for those memories. The forest is where I fell in love with photography, always stealing the family camera to take pictures of my own.

Through photographig these monumental spaces with a large format view camera, Mother aims to connect my current practice as an artist to these lands that have shaped me growing up. This project is a thank you to my mother and our mother, who has graced us with these landscapes that you see before you. I hope to represent the earth in the way she has represented herself to me.
